About Us

We are a self-funded group of volunteers called ECO BEACH clean group Isle of Wight.

This is a new group which has been formed since an article in the Isle of Wight County Press featured vast amounts of debris that has accumulated on the beach at Compton Chine.

I’ve received a very good response from Islanders with over fifty offers of help; I intend to fund initial setup cost (i.e. website, equipment and truck hire) to get things going.

Eco Beach Clean Group will support the National Trust and will forward information on the source of this debris to the Marine Conservation Society.

Many thanks

Joseph Burnip (11) from Somerton Middle School. Thank you to Joe for helping bring awareness of debris at Compton Chine. Jospeh's influence has helped his Uncle establish the Eco Beach Clean Group.

An example of local wildlife suffering from waste products - here is a recent photo taken at Compton Chine showing a gull with fishing hook and tackle caught in it's throat.
